A great place start is with your layout.
The ideal is to have the furniture away from the walls to allow movement through and around the room. This will allow you to play with layout, whilst keeping the feeling of open space. Cocktail chairs make a great design addition, providing extra seats for when visitors call. My top picks are further down on this page!
